Begin 2010 by joining us for our message series….
Introducing the first message series for 2010… FEARLESS Fearing what helps you, not what hurts you
Everyone has a fear of something. When people do not have a right relationship with God they fear things such as other people, situations and even fear the future. During this 8 week series, we will learn how to evaluate our fears and the need to fear what helps us, not what hurts us.
January 9/10 - "Fearless" Fear is a powerful emotion which can, at times, be beneficial because it helps us to react to dangerous situations and avoid injury. However, God knows that fear can hold us back in life, and in our relationship with Him. In this series introduction message, Senior Pastor Mike Lwin will share with us that God wants to help us live fearlessly in Him.
January 16/17 - "The High Cost of Fear" Fear can be crippling and destructive when it festers inside us. Some by-products of fear are anger, withdrawal, confusion and deceit. It steals our esteem and identity as well as our love, joy and peace. During this message, Pastor Art Larson will help us to understand the need to get rid of destructive fear before we lose our destiny in God.
January 23/24 - “God’s Fear Relief” We need not be ashamed when we are afraid. We will always have fear, but we need to learn to turn to God and trust in his loving power whenever fear threatens to overwhelm us. God wants to free us from is the kind of fear that freezes us and shuts us down. Join us as Pastor Mike Lwin teaches us to beat fear by focusing on Gods greatness and promises. This way, God’s Spirit will flow freely and wonderfully through us.
January 30/31 - “Choose Your Fear” Because we will always fear something, God gives us the freedom to choose what we fear. We can fear circumstances and other people or we can fear God. Fearing God is a gift from the Holy Spirit that helps us because it causes us to walk close to Him. Fearing life, other people and the world can hurt us. In this message titled “Choosing Your Fear”, Pastor Mike McGuire will tell us of the importance to make a conscience decision to fear God. After all, the Bible says that the beginning of wisdom and knowledge is the fear of God.
February 6/7 - “Know Your Fear” Many fears are invisible and subconscious, but powerfully influence our lives. We need to admit our fears—to ourselves and to God, asking Him to guide us and give us wisdom in facing them. In today’s sermon, Pastor Mike Lwin will challenge us to invite God to search our hearts and reveal all our fears, allowing us to take refuge in Him.
February 13/14 - “Ground Your Fear” Perfect love expels fear by showing God’s unconditional love and forgiveness for our weaknesses and sins. Perfect love also places other Christians in our lives to offer us God’s acceptance and love through them. This week, Pastor Alec Shimizu will remind us of the importance of regularly sharing of our fears in a group of grace. This will help us castaway fears and give us the internal strength needed to change.
February 20/21 - “Challenge Your Fear” It’s amazing how frequently fear is addressed in the Bible. Over and over again, we are told not to be afraid but to believe and trust in God. To be fearless, we must change our focus from “I want to do better at not being afraid,” to “I will trust what God says about me”. God’s commands will lead us to live the character He wants us to possess. Relying on the strength that comes from being honest about our weaknesses, Pastor Alec Shimizu will challenge us to surrender completely to God’s commands and take action steps that are contrary to our fears.
February 27/28 - “Growing Through Your Fear” Why do we so often remain silent about our fears when over and over again in the Bible, God invites us to bring them before him? The antidote to fear is not just courage- It is faith. We gain courage as we grow closer to the Lord in faith. This message, given by Pastor Mike McGuire, will challenge us to practice the daily spiritual disciplines of evaluation, fellowship, Bible reading, and prayer as a method of battling and facing our fears.
March 6/7 - “Fear God!” People that fear God have confidence because they don’t fear anyone, any situation or anything that can happen. When we choose to fear God, we start to live our God-given missions. God gives us courage to speak what we know is true about ourselves, what’s true about Jesus and what’s true about our calling. In this final message of the series, Pastor Art Larson will charge us to step out in courage and fearlessly be a witness for Jesus Christ.
